Imagine this. A Canadian homeowner - a successful professional
with a lovely home in a nice neighbourhood - arrives home after
work one day to find a "For Sale" sign on his lawn. Imagining
that it may be a practical joke, he asks his wife if she's
unhappy with the house! But his wife has no idea why the sign is
there, or who put it up. It turns out that the couple are the
victims of title fraud - a crime that's on a worrisome rise here
in Canada.

How is it possible? While there are several variations on the
crime, the basics are usually the same. The fraudster will
target a home and falsify legal documents to create a convincing
paper trail to "prove" their ownership of the home. They then
proceed to mortgage the home and disappear with the money.
Often, the rightful owners will have no idea what's going on
until a financial institution tracks them down to demand
payments on a loan they never knew existed. In some cases, the
fraudsters have actually stolen their identity: an especially
difficult twist for the homeowner, who must also clear his/her
name.

The easy access to electronic data -- on both people and
property -- may be contributing to the rise in title fraud,
which is costing homeowners and financial institutions millions
of dollars each year. And though it's a serious challenge to the
lenders, it can be financially devastating to the homeowner.

Fortunately, Canadians have access to some protection against
title fraud. A growing number of Canadian homeowners are
purchasing "title insurance": a product that offers some
specific protections against title fraud and other potential
pitfalls:

· A new survey shows a minor zoning violation that will require
a variance - a process that will delay the close of the sale.
Title insurance may allow the sale to close on time.

· Several months after moving in, a new owner discovers that the
heating ducts were cut off in an amateur renovation, done
without permits. Title insurance could cover the cost of the
repair and related expenses.

· An older property has the lenders worried: though there's no
evidence of any problem, there is no survey for the property,
and no record of permits for water or septic. Title insurance
may provide lenders with the confidence to proceed with the
mortgage.

Not surprising, title insurance is gaining support among both
lenders and lawyers, who see the value of this kind of increased
homeowner protection. Although some protection exists through
your lawyer's "errors and omissions" insurance - and the Land
Registry has an assurance fund in place that may be helpful -
homeowners have learned the hard way that accessing these monies
can take time, legal hire, and money (potentially a lot) on
their part. On the other hand, title insurance - available at a
modest, one-time cost - gives you immediate payout on a wide
range of title problems. Best of all, title protection insurance
is not limited to new purchasers only - it's now available to
current homeowners as well.

In case you're wondering, the couple in the story above - which
is based on one of the case files of Canada's leading title
insurance company - did eventually regain title to their house.
But it's a cautionary tale. Next time you make any changes to
your mortgage, make sure to inquire about title insurance.

Words on paper or screen alone do not make a TV story. If you want to crack the TV news or the talk shows, you must demonstrate that you have a “visual.”

A visual is the images or video that accompanies the words. TV needs something that moves or talks to tell its stories.

If it looks interesting or nice, that’s a plus. They will shoot the video; you don’t need to. But often you do need to suggest what to shoot.

Example: the story is advice for would-be homeowners.

5. Will it be recorded or live?

Recorded interviews allow for editing. Live interviews have added pressures because there's no room for mistakes.

6. Will the interview be in the studio or in the field?

Studios tend to be very sterile, controlled and intimidating environments while a field interview can provide context for the story. If you can control the background visuals for the interview on your turf, with a company logo or product, this will help maximise free branding and promotional opportunities.

7. What is the news angle?

Hearing what the story is directly from the journalist will help provide direction and give you an opportunity to prepare suitable answers.

8. Who else are they interviewing?

Again, this will put the interview in context and help provide background. This type of information is vital when preparing a response or key messages.

9. Who is the target audience for the interview or program?

The more you understand who will be watching the interview the more targeted your message can be to that audience.

10. What are the logistics?

Anyone who is closely related to an accountant knows that there are not four, but five seasons in a year: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and 'Tax Season.' During the other seasons, we accumulate leaves, snow, and mosquito bites. During 'Tax Season' we accumulate paper. And more paper. And if you have a small business or investments--even more paper.

Whether you hire someone to prepare your taxes or attempt to decipher the forms yourself, it is imperative that your papers be in order for this 'fifth season.' Organizing your tax-related documents is not just a project for the evening of April 13th. Good tax organization is a year-round process.

Some pitfalls of being disorganized at tax time:

You run the risk of misplacing important receipts/documents
You feel stressed from the mad dash to the tax preparer/post office on April 14th
Your tax preparer may charge you more money if they have to spend time wading through your piles of loose receipts.

How to remedy these tax-time situations? Prepare now for next year by getting organized!

Set up an all-year round file system

Designate a box, accordion file, or a file cabinet for year-round paper storage and retrieval. Create folders for receipts, credit card and bank statements, anything you have spent money on or need to keep track of for tax purposes. As you acquire such documents, place them in the appropriately labeled folder. This is beneficial not only for tax time but for when you have to retrieve certain papers throughout the year.

Give your tax-related papers a home

Every January, our mailboxes become flooded with documents necessary for filing your taxes. At the beginning of the year, designate a large envelope or box in one area of your home or a file in your file cabinet for these papers. Examples of these are:

W2's
1099's
Mortgage interest statements
Bank interest statements
Real estate tax statements
Investment statements
Receipts for charitable donations

Sort and create categories for your papers/receipts

By early February you should have received all paperwork necessary to complete your taxes. Take that envelope/box/file of collected papers and sort them by category. This process will enable you or your tax preparer to quickly locate your papers and receipts. Some basic categories are:

Salary
Real Estate
Medical
Childcare
Investments

Save your tax preparer aggravation by throwing away the envelopes that your statements came in and tear off the perforated edges from your income statements. Group the documents into the categories you’ve created and paper clip them together. Place all of these papers in a folder or large envelope.

Call your tax preparer early

If you're using a tax preparer, call in January to schedule a mid to late February tax appointment. Doing this forces you to organize and compile all the necessary information by that date. Also, accountants get very busy as April 15th approaches. You don’t want an exhausted accountant doing your taxes...

Being organized at tax time will give you greater control over the tax preparation process. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, you will feel a sense of calm and accomplishment. Instead of frantically searching for documents you will be able to produce them at a moment’s notice. Instead of your accountant cursing your name, he/she will sing your praises when you present them with an envelope of organized papers and receipts.

The sooner you get organized for tax time the sooner you may get that big refund check. If that’s not motivation enough, I don’t know what is...

The key to a successful car wash fundraiser event is to eliminate chaos before it starts. Having done more than 100 car wash fundraisers myself, I can safely say that there is a right way and a wrong way to do a car wash fundraiser. Here are some tips in organizing your next successful car wash fundraiser.

ORGANIZING

Bringing the troops together isn’t easy. First they need to be motivated. Chances are you already have synergy in your group. You need to harvest this synergy to make an effective team. There are a number of assignments to do to have a successful fundraiser. If this is a sports team or other well-organized group, you will already have a support structure, which will help tremendously. You will first need to set up a car wash fundraiser committee. Here are the assignments:

Person in charge

Publicity coordinator

Location and site locator

Supplies needed person

Ticket sales captain

Shift scheduler

Post car wash follow up person

Environmental coordinator

Since you are probably in charge, seeing as you are reading this book, your job description is as follows:

Person In Charge:

Pitch the idea to a group and get them to approve it. Find volunteers. Make a time line starting six weeks before and up to one week after the event. Look over the descriptions of other assignments. Make sure you feel confident that each volunteer is capable and willing to do his or her assignments. Regularly check to make sure assignments are being met. Check often. Team follow up is essential. Also, get or make the tickets. Make sure you feel confident that you can do all this. If not, either get the confidence or explain briefly the car wash fundraiser idea and give this book to a person who you know can do anything. The other job descriptions are as follows:

Publicity Coordinator:

Call all local publications that are applicable and submit information to the Community Calendar sections. Call the radio stations. Make sure they put the event on the Public Service Announcements (PSA’s) schedule. Call local reporters and let them know of your event. Make signs. Make wrapped coffee cans for extra donations. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper two weeks before the event.

Location And Site Locator:

Find a visible high traffic location. Contact property owners. Get insurance for the event if property owners desire such. Discuss traffic flow with the property owner. One week before the event write a confirmation and thank you letter.

Supplies Needed Person:

Round up buckets, hoses, soap, sponges, towels, etc. Collect signs from the publicity person before the event.

Ticket Sales Captain (Coach):

Give out tickets to your group’s sales force. Keep a log of tickets given out and money collected. Schedule meetings two times per week with your sales staff. Make sure your log matches with the number of tickets and amount of money they collected.

Shift Scheduler:

Make sure you have enough volunteers to come and wash the cars the day of the event. Have exact names and times and make sure the volunteers know when they are working. Have phone numbers for all your volunteers. Call and confirm with each person the week of the event.

Post Car Wash Person:

Make certificates for the other assigned jobs on the committee. Make a certificate for the gas station owner or the property owner. Send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper publicly thanking everyone for their support. Make sure the car wash site is spotless when the car wash fundraiser is done. Sample standard thank you letters are in the Appendix Section of this book.

Environmental Coordinator (If Needed):

Make sure no car wash water goes into storm drains, ditches or waterways. Get vacuums to remove excess water, block off storms drains, etc.

There are lots of benefits to having organization in your purse. It can be pretty bothersome when you are at a sales counter trying to purchase something and you have to dig through your purse to find your wallet or credit card. Also, it is a pain to have to take a long time to look through your purse to find your car keys after coming out of a mall or the grocery when your hands are full of bags. How many of us have, at one point, had to empty the entire all of the contents of our purses to find our car keys? This does not have to be how your life is . Also, lots of females keep their day planners in their purses. When your purse is organized, it is simple to find your planner so you don't have to search for your planner either.

An organized purse is one of the easiest and smartest ways to start making your life more organized. Numerous females keep some of their most important items in their purse, so being able to find these items quickly and efficiently can always be a help and never a hindrance. You do not have to be bashful when it comes to telling friends that you have an aide to help you organize your purse. Nearly every woman should have something to keep their purse in order, so it is easy to find things and so that they can make their life easier.

I can conclude that Lifelock, and most of the other providors, are a part of the solution, and not just another part of the problem.

Eating Disorders: A Teenager Needs Advice

Dear Dr. J.

I am 16 years old and I think I think I have an eating disorder.
My mom loves me very much and she's always supported me in my
dream to be a model. Ever since I can remember, my mom has tried
to help me find the right clothes, talk right, and get exercise
and eat in a healthy way. Up until this year, I really thought I
wanted to be a model, but now I'm in my junior year of high
school and I think I want to go to college to be a teacher or
maybe join the Peace Corps. I've never had a boyfriend before
and now I'm going with Tim who thinks I'm beautiful whether I
wear makeup or not. In fact, he says he likes the "natural
look". I've stopped wearing so much makeup and I've been eating
more when I go out with Tim.

It was Tim who noticed that I hardly eat anything when I'm out.
He wonders if I have a problem. His sister had anorexia and had
to go away to a treatment place. He's worried about me. I'm
trying to show him that I don't have anorexia like his sister,
but now I feel terrible because I've been throwing up since I
was 13. I feel like I should tell him, but I don't want to lose
him. My mom is mad because she says I look "terrible" and that
I'm "letting myself go". I have gained a little bit of weight
and Tim thinks I look pretty. My mom keeps asking me if I'm
exercising. She made a deal with me that I could go out more if
I exercise and stop eating sweets. She had some chocolates
hidden up in the pantry and I got into them and ate some, and
she found out and was really mad.

Tim is really nice and is popular and studies and is planning to
go to college. His parents go to our church and are really nice
too. Now my mom says I'm spending too much time with Tim and
wants me to limit it to once every two weeks. I don't understand
why she's so mad.

I think I have bulemia. What should I do? I don't want to hurt
anybody's feelings, especially my mom, but I think she's too
much in my business. Everyday when I get home, she asks about
what this girl said, or that girl said. She wants to know
everything Tim says and then gets mad when I tell her. Maybe I
should just break up with Tim so he doesn't get hurt.

Dear Marcie:

Yes, I certainly think you do have Bulemia Nervosa. You can
check the specific symptoms here on the website. If you are
vomiting after you eat as part of trying to control your weight,
you have a problem. It is very important for you to get help
with this right away.

Up until recently, your mother has been totally in charge of
your decisions. She decides what you should wear, eat, and do.
She is way too involved and way too controlling. Part of the
clinical picture for a Bulemic is an overinvolved mother. Your
mother needs to get therapy to help her find a more healthy way
of relating to a teenage daughter. Perhaps she could be a part
of your therapy at some point. It appears that your mother has
revolved her life around you and that isn't good. She may even
be trying to live her life vicariously through you. Because of
this, if you don't do as she expects, she becomes frustrated and
angry, and tries anything to get you back under her control. She
is going to try to break up your relationship with Tim because
he has an influence on you that is running contrary to hers. I
know this sounds harsh, but somebody has to say it...your
mother needs to back off and let you be who you want to be.
Hopefully, you will go away to college and at least create some
physical distance with your mother.

Because you have this enmeshed (too close) relationship with
your mother, you have never developed an internal guide to help
you make your own decisions. Now that you have Tim in your life,
you're now trying to please him too. The stress of being caught
between the needs of these two powerful people in your life
could make your eating disorder worse. As strange as this seems,
your eating disorder gives you a sense of control. Even though
you feel out of control when you're in it, it is the one thing
you do have control over. This does sound strange, and that's
why you need to get into therapy with somebody who understands
the complexities of this condition. Even if you attach yourself
to the therapist for a while and try to please her, at least you
will have the influence of somebody who has your best interests
at heart. Eventually, however, the purpose of the therapy is to
help you find your own inner voice which tells you what you need
and want. My guess is that you have anxiety about being perfect
and not making mistakes. You mentioned that Tim is your first
boyfriend and he's probably the first person outside the family
who has had a different opinion. This can throw you into quite a
turmoil on a very deep level. Depression and anxiety are
probably part of what you are experiencing right now. Check with
your school and see if they can help get you a referral to a
therapist or eating disorder group facilitated by a
professional. The school counselor could also be a valuable
mediator in approaching your mother about getting help. She will
be very threatened by your seeking therapy. She will be afraid
the therapist will blame her and I'm not sure her ego strength
is that solid. Whatever you do, do not take responsibility for
the feelings of these loved ones. It is up to them to deal with
their own feelings. It's your job to focus on yourself so that
you can begin to recover from this eating disorder.

The charms of Zanzibar have at one time or another lured a vast array of adventurers, men-of God, explorers, traders and conquerors. The Cathedral Church of Christ, on the site of the open slave market, is of historical interest and for the devout is the appropriate place to pray for the souls of those who perished in the slave trade.

For an all-in view of Zanzibar, a â€œSpice Tourâ€ is recommended. This will include ruins of palaces and ancient mosquesâ€™, a Sultans harem, the Mangapwani slave caves and of course the spice plantations after which Zanzibar takes its trade name. Nature lovers may also want to take in Jozani Forest located 35 km from the city. This area of thick forest is one of the few remaining sanctuaries of the red colobus monkey.

Zanzibar is after all an island and the usual delights of a beach destination are available. There are also plenty of opportunities for fishing and watersports. Pemba Island has its own unique attractions and snorkeling and scuba diving are particularly good here. The Pemba channel across from the main island is reputed to have some of the best game fishing anywhere in the world.

Mnemba Island, off the north coast of the main island is very exclusive. CondÃ© Nast Traveller has picked it as one of the three most romantic ocean destinations in the world. That super model Naomi Campbell and her beautiful friends have been here is proof enough for me. I also think the earlier Sultanâ€™s would be much pleased to know that the Sultan of Software, Bill Gates has been on holiday in this very island.

To further enhance your experience in this part of the world consider making Zanzibar your base to partake of a Tanzania safari or scale mighty Kilimanjaro. You will be following in the footsteps of David Livingstone and the earlier explorers who used Zanzibar as their base for expeditions to the African mainland.

Zanzibar has two main festivals of interest to visitors: the Zanzibar Cultural Festival and The Zanzibar International Film Festival. The cultural festival is held in the July-August period and is marked with taarab traditional music and dance and display of arts and crafts. It also includes street carnivals, canoe races, bull fighting and fairs. Participants come from as far away as Germany and China though most are from Zanzibar itself and nearby countries.

The film festival celebrates the culture of the â€œDhow Countriesâ€ and is staged in the first week of July. I can inform the curious that the countries enjoined here include those on the eastern seaboard of the African continent, India, Pakistan, the Gulf states, Iran and the Indian Ocean. Participants come from the world over. The heart of the event is the screening of competition and non-competition events. Other activities associated with the festival are dance and music performance, workshops and exhibitions on the culture of the Dhow countries.

Zanzibar is a hot and humid place, tempered only by sea breezes. The wettest period is April and May with a shorter and lighter wet season in November. The mean minimum and maximum temperatures are between 30 and 33 degrees centigrade. December to March is hot and dry while June to October is the period when it is coolest and driest.

Your marketing information is perishable like a loaf of bread. Leave it on the shelf for longer than 7-10 days and it's stale as far as the majority of your prospects are concerned.

I was talking with David, a client from Arizona who owns four physical therapy clinics in the Tucson area. I asked him how business has been since we talked two weeks ago. He said three of his clinics were booked solid but the fourth was suffering from a lack of clients.

When I asked him what he thought was the problem, he acknowledged that his sales representatives for that clinic hadn't been in touch recently with the doctors who refer patients to them. In contrast, the pharmaceutical companies have three reps assigned to visit each of the same doctors' offices every week.

Even though doctors in the area had used Davidâ€™s firm's services in the past, and their patients have a continuing need for these services, without recent contact the doctors had started referring their patients elsewhere. As David had quickly learned, just because someone knows about your services doesn't mean they will remember you when they are ready to make a referral or a purchase, even if they were a satisfied customer.

According to a study by e-consultancy.com, prospects cool quickly, at an estimated rate of 10% per day. In other words the shelf life of your marketing on average is about the same as a loaf of bread, 7-10 days.

Grocery store managers know that people won't buy stale produce or moldy bread, so they continually replace their stock. The same thing happens in marketing. Your prospects will lose track or discard your previous marketing information, even if they need your products and services. To keep your marketing information fresh in their minds, you need to expose them to it on a regular basis.

Obviously, your marketing shelf life will vary depending on the type of information you want prospects to retain and the type of communication. When people visit my web site they can fill in a contact form requesting a call. On occasion I get these and respond within 10-15 minutes. The majority of people I talk to remember filling in the form, the content of my site, but can't remember the URL for the site.

If people can't remember the URL of your web site, even if it provides an essential service they want to pay for, they won't be able to find your site and buy from you.

Estimated Average Shelf Life of Your Marketing: - Visiting your web site to forgetting your web site: 2 minutes - Reading a page or more of your marketing materials to forgetting your products or services: 5 to 7 days - Talking with you to forgetting you; 2 to 3 weeks - Buying from you to forgetting your company; 1 to 3 months

It's not that you don't provide essential products and services and people donâ€™t want them; the problem is that your marketing information regularly gets buried in your prospectâ€™s minds.

We have the same struggle with my teenage son. Much as weâ€™d like him to sort his laundry and put clothes neatly away in his bureau, gravity takes over and the clothes end up on the floor. He sees and wears the clothes at the top of the pile. In short order, he's run out of shorts. Where are they? Buried at the bottom of the pile.

If a prospect has just been to your website, read your marketing materials, talked with you or made a purchase from you, your information is at the top of the pile in their mind. Each day that goes by they take in more information that gets added to the top of the pile, and your marketing information gets pushed further and further down until they no longer remember it.

How can you avoid having your marketing go stale in prospects' minds or get buried by all the other information they process?

1. If you have a web site, focus on getting prospects to give you their contact information so you have a means of getting in touch with them.

3. Whether it is by email, snail mail, over the phone or in print, stay in touch with your prospects so they donâ€™t forget you.

3. Track your contacts with your prospects so you know how frequently you've approached them and by what means, and keep your objectives clearly in mind.

4. When a prospect becomes a client or a customer, don't assume that they'll remember to come back for the next purchase. Follow up immediately and tempt them with a special offer. This tactic alone can boost your sales by 30 to 40%.

It's hard to believe, but most of the people who need and want your products and services will forget you after they've read your marketing materials. Don't let your marketing shelf life expire and get discarded by your prospects.

Develop and implement a system for contacting your prospects so they remember you. You'll get permanent shelf space in their minds and youâ€™ll get their business.

Praying is an interesting form of communication with God. It reflects how we relate to God and reveals a lot about our character. Those of us who pray to God have been guilty at one time or another of praying an emergency prayer. This is not the kind of prayer for when we have a true emergency, but the prayer to get out of a bind. It goes like this: "Hi God, Remember me. Yeah, it's been a long time. Listen, as you can see things are going that great. I would appreciate it if you can help me out of this situation. Thanks, I'll talk to you later. "

God comes through, and we sigh with relief and start to think of bigger request from what we consider to be our personal genie. We become more self centered and demanding. The prayer goes like this: "Dear God, Thanks for coming through on that last request. That was a close one. Now, I need more. You see my situation, come on look out for me. Talk to you later."

What happens when God doesn't come through this time. We get our request stamped Return to Sender. We begin to question if God was ever really in our corner and looking out for us. We start to question our faith. It is during these times that God examines our hearts to help us see who we really are and what we really need in our lives. We slowly begin to realize that our childish, selfish prayers were a one way conversation. We were willing to talk, but not willing to listen.

We realize that what we thought was a need was really a want, a desire. We start to identify what is important in our lives. We start to have gratitude for what we have. Our lives no longer center around what's missing from our lives, but what is flowing abundantly in our lives.

Our relationship with God changes as our prayers become more heartfelt and more sincere. The words we used to search for come naturally, because we chose to stay still and listen. The changes we wanted God to make in others become transformations in ourselves. We ask God to show us instead of trying to show Him. We begin to let go and let God.

We come to the realization that what we thought was an unanswered prayer was a true blessing.

Out of the 60 million inkjet cartridges and 44 million toner cartridges used each year in the UK alone, less than 8% are recylced leaving over 95 million of them being thrown away and ending up in landfill sites.

Landfill sites contain over Â£100 million worth in raw materials from discarded printer cartridges alone. These cartridges contain precious oil resources (it can take up to 6 pints (almost 3.5 litres) of oil to make just one printer cartridge), as well as cartridge ink, both worth a fortune to replace as new.

In less than one year, recycling cartridges in Europe could save more oil than the 11,000,000 gallons spilled by the Exxon Valdez oil tanker into Prince William Sound in Alaska in 1989.

So how can you help?

* Refill and reuse your existing cartridges

Refilling your existing cartridges not only saves you money but the amount of natural resources that will be spared is amazing. Do you throw away your car when it's petrol tank needs refilled?

* Buy remanufactured inkjet and toner cartridges

Buying Remanufactured cartridges saves on the enviromental and purchase cost of buying new. With todays standard of remanufactured cartridges so high, it is almost impossible to distinguish the quality brands such as Printrite from the original manufacturers own.

* Recycle your used inkjet cartridges and laser toners

The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic) directive is coming into force in January 2006 and it creates obligations on the supply chain in respect of the disposal of end of life equipment.

What causes sinus infection symptoms?

First of all we need to know what the sinuses are. The sinuses are hollow packets of air located on either side of the nose, behind and in-between the eyes, and in the forehead. The sinuses produce mucus that cleans and moistens the membranes of the nose and throat. Each sinus has an opening into the nose that allows for free exchange of mucus and air. Sinus infection symptoms are the result of inflammation and blockage of the openings. The mucus and pressure then build in the sinuses creating a perfect breading ground for bacteria. Sinus infection symptoms generally follow a cold or some other respiratory illness. For someone who suffers from allergies they can also be caused by an allergic reaction. Other causes include: blowing the nose too hard, not completely treating the first sinus infection, or frequent swimming.

General sinus infection symptoms:

• Headache
• Pain
• Upper jaw and tooth ache
• Tenderness around the nose, forehead and cheeks
• Swelling and pressure around the eyes
• Ear ache and infection
• Fever
• Weakness or fatigue
• A cough, runny nose or nasal congestion
• Bad breath
• Snoring

Other symptoms can include:

• Nasal sounding speech
• Only being able to breathe through your mouth because your nasal passages are so plugged.
• A decreased or total loss of smell
• A nasty, possibility green, stinky nasal discharge. (Sounds exciting doesn’t it!?)
• That gross feeling of mucus draining down the back of your throat known as post nasal drip.

Where areas do Sinus infection symptoms affect?

There are essentially four areas where you can feel the pain and pressure from a sinus infection. You may have experienced a headache in the forehead caused by an infection in the frontal sinuses. If the pain is more focused in the cheekbone area then your maxillary sinuses are infected. Your sphenoid sinuses may be infected if the pain you experience is more general and goes all the way to the top of your head. The sphenoid sinuses are located deep behind the eyes right above the throat. Finally, if the infection centers in the ethmoidal sinuses, you'll get that extremely uncomfortable pain behind the eyes.

What are the remedies for sinus infection symptoms?

Sinus infection symptoms are usually treated with an antibiotic, various nasal sprays, or other medication. Because sinus infection symptoms are common and chronic for many individuals, prevention is much better than the cure. There are some simple activities, such as using a humidifier and regularly cleansing nasal passages, which can greatly decrease your chances of experiencing sinus infection symptoms.

If you've been under a rock for the last year or so it's possible you might not have heard about blogs and RSS feeds. If you're like most of us, you've heard the buzz but might not've known what to make of it or what to do with it. Here's some answers.

First RSS feeds. RSS, depending on who you ask, stands for Really Simple Syndication. This is a technology that enables you to bring fresh, constantly updated material (feeds) into your site. The attraction of this is obvious. Sites need content, the fresher the better. Search engines love new content, hence the excitement about being able to pipe in extremely targeted feeds directly into your site. The implementation of this is not as difficult as one might imagine, and the choices for content are ever-burgeoning. You can find a feed for almost anything, and if you can't, you can create your own and syndicate it all over the web. The possibilities are mind-boggling. End-users must have the capability to read these feeds, but there are free feed readers all over the place and the new generation of browsers will have this built in.

Blogs. Nominated as one of the top words of 2004, they were prominent in the election (can you say, or want to, Howard Dean?) and they have become more a of web-household item. Blog software is ridiculously easy to use, and free. But why do I need one, you ask. Well, for me, it boils down to one thing and one thing only: search engines love blogs!! I have blogs that have higher (and much more quickly acquired) PageRank than sites that have several hundred pages of content! Why is this? Think about it: the very thing search engines love most, fresh content, is the very nature of blogging. Most blogs, at least commercial ones, are very on topic, keyword oriented, and frequently updated. The marketing piece concerning blogs is still in it's infancy but growing fast. There is little more powerful these days than a content blog hosted on your own site that is updated daily. I have blogs that get more traffic than the site they are sitting on! Think about this. It'll be worth it!

You would like to create your own information product, but you are stuck. What the heck should you write about? This could be the hardest step involved in this entire process. Add to that the fact that for some people, writing is an almost impossible task. But let me just tell you that writing up an article, special report, or a 340 page ebook isn't any different than learning to roller blade. Except that you'll get a lot less bumps and bruises! But it doesn't have to be this way. The best advice for what to write is write about WHAT YOU KNOW. That makes everything SO much easier. And, don't think you don't know anything, because everyone knows something.

Of course you can start out with the simple Notepad or WordPad tool that came with your computer when you purchased it. However, to cut through some additional formatting steps, i.e. - copying and pasting, etc., it's best to start out with a tool with a bit more function like Microsoft Word, or the better, and FREE alternative, Open Office.

You can download a copy from http://www.openoffice.org . You'll want to pick up the Open Office Suite so you're sure to get EVERYTHING. This is SO helpful to those of you who don't have, or can't afford expensive programs like Microsoft Office or PDF Maker programs.

Now that you have just the right writing tool, let's start writing! Make a list of the things that you do, or like to do. Whether it's your job, a hobby you enjoy, or caring for children or pets. Even the smallest thing that you might not think is important, like an easier way to clean up after family get together. A good thing to remember is that things we often take for granted or overlook because we do them on a constant or consistent basis someone else might have an interest in learning and have NEVER done before. Then, look over the list you just created and choose a subject from it. But, keep a hold of this list somewhere as you may want to return to it to invent a NEW product, or even several new products.

Here are a few example topics that might give you a better idea of what to strive for:

Pretty much any topic or subject can be turned into a profitable information product if you put the effort into it.

You don't have to have ANY knowledge about one particular subject, as you could always do research on the topic, by having prior experience or working knowledge of the material you plan to cover will make the project go that much easier and quicker.

Once you have your first topic picked out that you will be writing about, it's time to begin really writing it up. Now don't be afraid. This is easier than you might think. The way to write up an information product is to write as if you are explaining the subject to someone who has no previous knowledge of it or has never heard of what you are talking about.

Go from beginning to end. Leave out nothing, no matter how small the detail. Remember, most of the people that purchase your information product will be new to the whole process of your subject matter.

You have just jumped the first hurdle in the process of creating your own information product.

It is possible, if you aren't careful, ot offend strangers, if you have decided to join their group when you play, by not playing to their rules.

Along with the plaid pants, sweater vests, flat caps and other stereotypical golf apparel, golfers are also best known for their obsession with silence on the golf course. This does, however, make sense when you are concentrating into putting everything into your swing to hit a tiny ball with a long nearrow stick. Silence is a must!

So, even if you are just playing a round of golf with your friends, make sure to observe the basic rule of keeping quiet during shots and not to stand in the shooters direct line of vision.

Follow the rules, treat others on the course as you would like to be treated and have a great enjoyable game.

I was contented as a Web Developer in a multi-national corporation, lost in my own world in cyberspace. The pay was alright and there wasnâ€™t any reason to think of other means of income. Looking back, I realized that I was in a comfort zone and being there shut my eyes to all the opportunities that were knocking at my door. Things were about to change though.

The signs were classic of a company in trouble. Emails instructing us to take cost-reduction seriously, profit sharing withheld, no year-end bonus, a freeze on all pay rises. Then, it was crunch-time. There was talk of â€œstaff re-designationâ€�. One year later, it became a full blown staff elimination exercise. No retrenchment benefits, no nothing.

My wife didnâ€™t really think I was serious about the company being in trouble until I started having the â€œclassicâ€� symptoms of Middle-Aged-Man-With-Job-Threatened-Syndrome. I couldnâ€™t eat or sleep worrying about how we would make ends meet on my wifeâ€™s salary as a kindergarten teacher, which wasnâ€™t much. The stress and fear were taking its toll on my health.

It became clear that there was no way the company would keep me for more than a year and with job applicants half my age working for even lesser pay, my wife and I did some serious talking. We came up with a couple of ideas we thought we could do to earn extra cash and prepare us for the tough times ahead. We eventually decided to start our own home catering business, cooking and delivering dinner to people who were either too busy, didnâ€™t have the time or the liking to cook.

Armed only with the confidence that my wife was a great cook, we started. Our first obstacle turned out to be our minds. We were so caught up in our comfort zone for so long that every little decision seemed like a monumental task. At the back of our minds, we didnâ€™t want to be in the position we were in. We struggled with the fear of change and the unknown, but we carried on, telling ourselves that even if I did get another job, it was only a matter of time before the same cycle would repeat itself. We HAD to take this step and take control of our lives and our earning power.

We made countless mistakes in our first six months, but let me tell youâ€¦ when we got our first customer, I felt such relief I slept like a baby that night. It was my first night of peaceful sleep in a year. It wasnâ€™t the sixty dollars profit that we made. It was the fact that we had finally started to chart our own destiny, free from the whims and fancies of corporate management.

A year into our business, the inevitable happened. I was approached by my company to discuss â€œre-designationâ€�. I told them that I knew what they meant and I was prepared to leave. I was the last one in my division to finally say goodbye. Thankfully, my wife and I saw this coming a year ago and readied ourselves for it, so when the time came, we just let go and set our sights on our home catering business.

Itâ€™s been almost two years now and weâ€™ve gone through some really trying times learning the ropes of managing a home business. Weâ€™ve had to adjust our attitudes and daily lives but weâ€™re doing fine, and our financial situation has gone from hopeless to healthy. What started out as a way to earn extra money has turned out to be our main source of income.

I hope my sharing gives you the encouragement and inspiration to NOT LOSE HOPE. I wouldnâ€™t recommend waiting until you were in trouble before you considered starting your own home business, but maybe like us, it takes a storm to help us break free of our comfort zone.
